Midnight Stinger

This is Sam Ross's riff on the classic whiskey sour

The Midnight Stinger is a contemporary cocktail crafted by renowned bartender Sam Ross during his tenure at Milk & Honey in New York City. Known for creating modern classics like the Paper Plane, Ross developed this drink as a Fernet-laced variation of the Whiskey Sour, catering to patrons seeking a balance of whiskey, citrus, and bitter flavors.

In this concoction, Ross combines bourbon, Fernet Branca, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup, shaken and served over crushed ice with a mint sprig garnish. The result is a harmonious blend where the bourbon’s warmth is complemented by the herbal bitterness of Fernet Branca and the bright acidity of lemon juice. Since its creation, the Midnight Stinger has gained popularity among cocktail enthusiasts, celebrated for its innovative fusion of classic ingredients and modern sensibilities.
